Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 13, 2026
MySeriesList (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides a personal TV tracking service at myserieslist.com. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we process, why we process it, and what choices you have.
Who is responsible
MySeriesList operates this service. For privacy questions, contact us through the contact form.
What data we collect
When you create an account, we collect:
- your name
- your email address
- a hashed password
- whether your email address has been verified
When you use the service, we also store:
- shows you add to your personal list and their status (for example watching, planned, paused, or completed)
- episodes you mark as watched, including the date you marked them
- your upcoming timeline preferences (how many days back and forward to show)
- session data needed to keep you signed in, including IP address and browser user agent when sessions are stored in the database
- temporary import state if you use the optional TV Time import feature
- background job metadata related to scheduled episode sync operations
We do not collect payment information because MySeriesList is currently free to use.
How we use your data
We use your data to:
- create and manage your account
- authenticate you and keep your session secure
- store your watch progress, watchlist, and upcoming timeline
- send required account emails such as email verification and password reset messages
- process optional TV Time imports that you start yourself
- keep shared TV metadata from TMDB up to date through scheduled background sync
- protect the service through rate limiting and abuse prevention
- understand site usage through analytics, but only if you consent through CookieConfirm
Legal bases
Where applicable under GDPR, we rely on:
- contract performance to provide the service you signed up for
- legitimate interests to secure, maintain, and improve the service
- consent for non-essential analytics cookies through CookieConfirm
- legal obligations where required
Shared TV catalog data
MySeriesList also stores shared TV metadata such as titles, seasons, episodes, air dates, and images retrieved from TMDB. This catalog data is not personal data by itself and remains in the application after account deletion.
External services
- TMDB — we call the TMDB API from our servers to search shows and load metadata and images. Your browser may load images directly from TMDB image servers when posters or backdrops are displayed.
- Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics — MySeriesList loads Google Tag Manager so CookieConfirm and analytics tags configured in our GTM container can run. Non-essential analytics tags should follow the consent choice collected through CookieConfirm.
- CookieConfirm — our consent management provider for non-essential cookies and tracking, configured inside Google Tag Manager.
- Email delivery provider — account and contact emails are sent through the mail transport configured for the application.
Cookies and browser storage
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. Non-essential analytics cookies are managed through CookieConfirm. See our Cookie Policy for details.
Retention
We keep your account data while your account exists. Temporary TV Time import files are removed when you delete your account and may also be cleaned up automatically after a configured retention period. Session records expire according to session settings.
Your choices
- You can update your profile information and timeline preferences in your account settings.
- You can delete your account from your profile page. This removes your personal watch data and account information. Shared TV catalog records are not deleted because they are not personal to your account.
- We do not currently provide an automated data export download. If you need a copy of your data, contact us.
- You can change analytics cookie preferences through CookieConfirm when its controls are available on the site.
Security
Passwords are stored using one-way hashing. Access to authenticated features requires a verified account. We apply rate limits and security headers to reduce abuse.
Children
MySeriesList is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page when we do.
